Rickie Hicks, the Managing Director of H&H Self Drive Van Hire based in North London, is on a mission to raise as much money for the Children’s Acute Transport Service, Barnet A&E, and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as he can.

Back in 2016 Rickie’s daughter Lily Belle, aged only six months old, fell critically ill with life-threatening Meningococcal Septicemia. She was only given a twenty percent chance of survival. However, a team of experts worked together to help Lily Belle, helping her eventually make a full recovery. She now lives a happy and healthy life with absolutely no lasting effects.
Rickie said, “If it wasn’t for the special care from the fantastic doctors and nurses, Lily wouldn’t be here today. It’s thanks to the amazing ambulance team, the Children’s Acute Transport Service, Barnet A&E, and Great Ormond Street Hospital that this story has a happy ending.”
Rickie felt he “owed Great Ormond Street Hospital his life” and wanted to give back to the charity. Since then he has taken part in numerous fundraising activities. And it’s not just Rickie. He has also roped in the wider H&H team who have completed a number of charity challenges alongside him, from daring sky dives to gruelling half marathons.
His latest charity challenge saw him complete the Kew Gardens 10k race in aid of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. He raised £560 for GOSH, smashing his original £500 target.
He added, “The staff at Great Ormond Street Hospital are second-to-none. My experience with them was just out of this world. I can’t ever do enough for them, but we’re doing as much as we can with these charitable events to try and give them our help and support.”
