Earlier this year, a team of cyclists from TC Harrison Ford covered an incredible 223.5 miles over three days to raise money for the Samaritans charity.
Through a huge joint effort, the team at TCH have managed to raise an impressive £5,000 (so far) with many of the team involved as either cyclists, bakers or volunteers.
Twenty-five members of staff took part in this year’s tour, cycling across the country to each of TCH’s JCB depots, Ford dealerships and the TCH leasing office.
The team have raised nearly double their original target of £2,750. All money has gone towards helping The Samaritans, an organisation that provides emotional support to anyone struggling to cope, in distress or at risk of suicide.
Christine McGuinness, PA to the Directors at TC Harrison Group explained, “The story began last year when we embarked on our first ‘Tour De TCH’ raising money for The British Heart Foundation (BHF). This year, William Harrison, Joint Deputy Chairman of TCH, decided to embark on ‘The Return of the Tour de TCH’ raising money for The Samaritans.
“We chose The Samaritans because a number of our employees are Samaritans. Mental health is very much close to our hearts here at TCH. Last year we raised £10,000 for BHF and this year, £5,000 for The Samaritans. We plan to continue with our charity rides each year.”
The company has big plans for fundraising in 2021 when it turns 90 years old. It plans to celebrate with a tour of the whole group from Sedgefield to Peterborough and finishing at Derby.
